Festivals are all about keeping things perfect. Be it home or body, we take extra care of things during festive season. With Diwali hitting our lives soon, we all are pre-occupied with our busy schedules of cleaning and cooking. Taking out time for parlour visits is quite a task and the fear of virus has put the cherry on the top. So, this festive season, why not dig into the roots of our traditions and get that parlour wala nikhar at home itself? Ubtans. Soothing, natural and organic, ubtans do miracle when it comes to cleansing, toning and hydrating the skin. And the best part, you can even make them at home with minimum ingredients. It’s time to ditch those expensive facials and exfoliate your skin with some desi ubtans.
1. Turmeric and sesame ubtan: Tumeric is an essential ingredient of almost every ubtan. Due to its skin brightening and and tan removal properties, turmeric helps in makes your skin clean and clear. Sesame is rich in anti-oxidants and treats wrinkles and acne. The ubtan is very easy to make and it’s results are effective.
Procedure : Mix 1-2 teaspoons of turmeric with 2-3 teaspoons of sesame seeds. Grind them well and make a fine powder out of it. Mix it with water to form a thick paste. Apply this on face and body and keep it for 15-20 minutes. Rinse with water. You will get a clear and glowing skin.
2. Almond and Orange ubtan : A very powerful ubtan recipe which contains almonds, saffron and orange peel. Almonds are great exfoliators while saffron is a super herb having skin lightening properties. Orange peel works as a detaning agent.
Procedure : Grind almond into fine powder. Add saffron and orange peel into the powder. Now add milk and make a paste. Apply it over face and neck for 15 minutes. Wash off with water and see the difference.
3. Sandalwood and Moong dal ubtan: Sounds weird but yeah, moong dal also makes very effective ubtan preparations. Sandalwood is well known for it’s lightening and brightening properties while moong dal adds firmness to the dead and dull skin.
Procedure : Mix 1 tbsp of urad dal with 1 tbsp moong dal, ½ tsp sandalwood powder, pinch of turmeric and rose water as needed to form a paste. Apply it over neck and wash off after 15-20 minutes.
4. Rose ubtan : Much in trend, rose ubtans are easy to make and leaves your skin fresh and aromatic. As the name suggests, it has rose, dried nuts amd kesar. On the top of our list, rose ubtan is a must try.
Procedure : Take dried rose petals, almonds, cashews and saffron. Grind them in fine powder. Add some milk and apply it on face and body. Wash it off after 10 minutes and feel the radiance like never before.
