Its January 12, “National Youth Day”. Every child has dreams of becoming something in their lives. It is quite typical of me to ask children what they want to become when they grow up. And when I throw this question to a bunch of children, I get diversified answers. The one thing common in all of them is the freedom to do what they want, the power to pursue their passion and the wings to fly high.
You just have to give children the opportunity to express and they will overwhelm you with their responses. Children will surprise you by telling every detail behind their aspiration and this is the same with every child.
Knowing about your child’s aspirations ia not enough. As adults we must give rhem an environment, an opportunity where they can live their childhood, explore their interests, learn new things and polish their skills to achieve their aim. In a nutshell, we have to empower them. Empowering them will make them stronger, confident and they can control their life and claim their rights.
Empowering children
Youth empowerment is the process by which children and younsters are supported and encouraged to take charge of their lives by making decisions for the benefit of self and the society. To be a youth is good but empowering them is much better. When we encourage our children and youth to be a better person, they succeed in their ambitions. They are assisted to do the right thing and take charge of their mistakes and flaws. We as an individual, as a parent and as their mentors shall step forward to empower them.
Empowering youth is important for the nation and individuals. The future prosperity of our country is secured beacuse these
Youth empowerment is of good importance to both nations and the empowered. With youth empowerment, the future prosperity of nations is secured because these are the people that are, and will take care of many offices and functions in the country. I meant that there are youths who are running many managerial functions in many institutes. There are also those who are going to manage top offices in the future in accordance with the popular statement “the youths are the leaders of tomorrow”. The importance of youth empowerment is so many that all of them cannot be detailed out in this write-up.
When the young are empowered, the society becomes a good place for all to live. They will assist in the economic activities of the society where they find themselves. And in turn, both families and the entire nation benefit. This is in line with the words of Brandee McHale, president of the Citi Foundation and Director of Corporate Citizenship at Citi. She once stated on Forbes, “When young people don’t see or have a sustainable economic path, our families and communities also suffer. In fact, the futures of cities are intrinsically tied to the economic success of young people”.
Youth Empowerment
The benefits of youth empowerment are:
1. It allows children and young people to explore, discover and develop their skills and strengths
2. It makes youth responsible and self-reliant
3. It makes youth more aware of themselves and the world
4. It gives a sense of direction helping youth from getting lost or falling into the dark trap of crime.
5. It instils a sense of confidence and makes youth resourceful and reliable
