And yes, finally it’s family time. The only positive aspect of this novel coronavirus outbreak is that it has brought all our families together again. From the last few days I have realized how freaking busy I was with my daily routine and work schedules. We all forgot the importance of sitting together, sharing long talks and playing chess or ludo in the balcony. The lockdown that is trending all over the world has finally let everyone realized that this quality break was the need of the hour.

This Sunday I decided to have some cooking time with kids. I took out my old recipe dairy and picked up a bunch of fireless and fuss free recipes to teach them. The session turned out so wonderful and distressing. Kids enjoyed cooking time and we had a quite a delicious meal that night.

So, I am sharing some easy and quick recipes that can be taught to kids effortlessly.

1. Coconut Laddoo: A simply delicious recipe with just two ingredients. Freshness of coconut and sweetness of milkmaid makes it perfect for a dessert treat.
Ingredients:
• 100 gms condensed milk
• 100 gms desiccated coconut + 2 tbsp for rolling
Method:
a. Mix sweetened condensed milk and desiccated coconut in a large bowl.
b. Roll in small laddoos with the help of palms.
c. Dust the remaining desiccated coconut over the laddoos and serve.

2. Mix Sprout Chaat: One of the most famous Indian recipe “chaat” with a twist of healthy sprouts.
Ingredients:
• Mixed sprouts 1 cup
• Grated carrot ½ cup
• Paneer cubed 1 cup
• Onions finely chopped 2
• Green chilies chopped 2
• Tomato finely chopped 1
• Salt and pepper to taste
• Lemon juice
Method:
a. Take the mixed sprouts.
b. Add onions, green chilies, carrots, tomatoes, paneer cubes to this mixture.
c. Add lemon juice
d. Chaat is ready to be served.

3. Biscuit Cake: A light, fluffy and fulfilling snack that everyone loves to eat. Easy and handy to prepare.
Ingredients:
• Chocolate marie biscuits 10
• Milk ½ cup
• Sugar 5 to 6 tbsp
• Butter 2 tbsp
Method:
a. Finely crush the marie biscuits with the help of rolling pin.
b. Pour it in a deep bowl.
c. Add milk sugar, butter and whisk the contents.
d. Pour this mixture into a baking tray and let it set properly.
e. Garnish with almonds and pistachios
f. Place the tray in refrigerator for 20-25 minutes.
g. Cut into wedges and serve.

Kids can be erratic at times and make you nag them have their food. The above recipes require minimal cooking and are a fun way to teach new skills to your kids. Holidays provide a good plentiful time for kids and mothers to spend time together. Involving children in the kitchen is a big step to appreciate them and teach them something new.
