Mommy… Mommy… Mommy…

Oh, How I wish, everytime I feel overwhelmed I could take a “Time out” from my little monster. And believe me, every Mommy needs a time out. Motherhood is a full time duty that asks for lots and lots of sacrifices, energy and patience. No matter whether she is working or a stay-at-home mom, she too needs a break from her daily busy routine to restore herself and break the monotony. So today I am going to share some ways to have freedom from your toddler’s tantrums and get some fresh air to feel rejuvenated.

Workout is Wonderful:

Trust me, physical activity is something that keeps you energetic throughout the whole day. Be it yoga, cycling, swimming or gyming, make time to keep your body sexy and fit. It’s one of the best ways to take a short break from your busy routine and makes you ready to tackle any tantrum positively.

Go out with your Girlfriends:

Plan a brunch or a casual dinner with your girl friends. Such little meetings and adult conversations can do wonders on your mind and body. Pour your heart out and laugh out loud with your girls. Such small gatherings will lighten you up and you will certainly feel delighted.

Get a haircut:

Or a massage, or maybe a manicure or pedicure. Pamper yourself. Please Mommy. You need it and you deserve every bit of it. Don’t underestimate the power of some relaxing hours at a spa. It helps to improve blood circulation, less headaches and better sleep. And above all, you will look Beautiful!!

Be a Couch Potato:

Believe me saying this, take out some time and do absolutely NOTHING!! Just sit on the couch with your cozy blanket and enjoy your own company. We mommies have a bad habit of pushing our limits like “a lot” which leads to anxiety and depression. Listen to your mind and rest as needed.

Seek out for Help:

Somedays will be the hardest. And if you are stuck up in the ocean of lots of household chores, recruit a househelp. Whenever you are offered one, maybe from your sister or your mom, take it. Try having a nanny at home so that you may get some free time to cheer yourself. You may even drop off your kids at your parents home and you can get some time to try the new cafe nearby or watch a movie.

It’s okay to say NO:

Over commitments are a big no. Learn to say NO without hesitation. Be it office or home, scheduling a lot on your plate is going to backfire you and deplete your energy. Be sorted and plan your calendar accordingly. Block weekends for hometime so that your kids can enjoy your company and you can get a night of reading your favorite novel or maybe you can soak yourself in a fragrant bubble bath.

Go out Shopping:

Wait! This doesn’t necessarily mean that you have to go out and binge shop. Sometimes, window shopping is the best passtime. Wander around and look at the pretty new stuff. This will help you clear your mind and soul. Try out some comfortable pair of pajamas and that high slit dress. You will feel good, mama!!

Take an escape to the Bathroom:

Can’t deal with all that noise. Go to the bathroom and shut the door. Just be in there for 10 minutes doing nothing. This way you can steal some time to clear up your thoughts and come back stronger.

Music heals:

Alexa, play some romantic songs. I can vouch on this, listening to good music really helps you with all the anxiety and stress. It is a natural healer. Try listening to your favorite music while doing household chores or driving. Plug in those airpods and play some podcasts, short stories or songs and enjoy some alone time.

Get Intimate with your Partner:

This indeed is one of the best ways to take a break from your daily routine. Cuddle up whenever you have 5 minutes to build up that emotional intimacy. It will help you nurture your relationship and destress yourself. These little moments bring a lot of joy and happiness round the corner and make your bond stronger.

Wrapping Up!

It certainly takes a lot of effort and patience to raise a kid and you can’t get out of the house everytime you feel like banging your head against the wall.  Mommies, a luxurious beach vacation sounds very interesting but it can’t be on the cards every time you need a break. You can take tiny breaks even when you are stuck at home and can’t go out.

Remember, you can’t take care of your kid if you are not well. So, Take out time for yourself. Take a deep breath and start again. And above all, be a happy mom!!
