Wohoo!! It’s time to fill your kitchen with the aroma of namkeems and snacks. Diwali is approaching and with each day passing by, our cravings to indulge into those lip smacking chivdas and chaklis is getting high. We may not light crackers or noisy bombs, but every year we all celebrate Diwali by making lots of farsaan. And this year we have are already high on reasons for not buying outside food. Here are some recipes that you can’t afford missing in this Diwali season.

1. Healthy Atta Chakli: Chaklis or Murukkus are everyone’s favorite. Many of you might know the traditional rice flour murukku recipe, but this one is different. Loaded with smoky flavor of garlic, this is healthy and easy to cook.
Ingredients:
● 2 cups wheat atta
● 1 cup whisked curd
● 1 tsp finely chopped garlic
● 1 tsp finely chopped green chillies
● ½ tsp turmeric powder
● ½ tsp red chilli powder
● Salt to taste
● 3 tbsp oil+oil for frying
● 1 tsp ajwain
● 1 tsp sesame seeds

Method :
1. Take a muslin cloth and put atta into it. Now tie the cloth from all the sides. In a pressure cooker, put a ring stand and add ½ cup water.
2. Now put a small plate on the ring stand and keep that atta packet over it. Pressure cook atta till 1-2 whistles.
3. Once cooked, take out the atta packet and let it cool. Now put the atta in a large bowl. Add curd and oil. Mix well till it becomes crumbly.
4. Add all the other ingredients and knead a semi-soft dough with water.
5. Now make chaklis with the help of chakli maker machine.
6. Deep fry the chaklis till they turn golden brown.
7. Serve with chai or keep in an air tight container.

2. Corn Flakes Chivda: This Diwali, ditch that basic murmura and poha chivda and give your chivda a crunchy twist of corn flakes. Healthy and quick recipe, your kids are gonna love it.
Ingredients
● 2 cups cornflakes
● 2 tbsp peanuts
● 2 tbsp chana dal roasted
● ½ tsp chilli powder
● 2 tbsp powdered sugar
● Salt to taste
● Oil for deep frying

Method
1. In a kadhai heat oil. Add cornflakes and deep fry till they turn golden brown.
2. In the same kadhai add peanuts and fry them evenly.
3. Add chana dal in the same kadhai and fry it till it turns golden brown in color.
4. Now take a deep bowl add all the ingredients except oil and mix well.
5. Serve the chivda or keep it in an air tight container.

3. Parsley straws : A herby snack made up of flour, onions, curry powder and chopped parsley. Serve it with a nice tangy dip to double the joy.
Ingredients
● 2 tbsp finely chopped parsley
● 1 cup maida
● ¼ cup butter
● 1 tbsp finely chopped onions
● ¼ tsp curry powder
● ¼ tsp salt

Method:
1. Put the plain flour in a bowl, add the butter and rub it with fingers till it becomes crumbly.
2. Add all the remaining ingredients along with 1 tbsp of cold water to knead into a dough.
3. Roll out the dough to 6 mm having ¼ inch thickness.
4. Cut into long strips and twist the strips from both the ends.
5. Arrange the straws on an ungreased baking dish and bake it in a preheated oven at 200 degree Celsius for 10 minutes.
6. Serve immediately or cool and store in an air tight container.
