I just had my lunch and I am hungry again. Now what? Craving something delicious, but I have nothing left in my kitchen cupboard. Don’t want to have that deep fried potato chips, and not in mood to order some junk. Monsoons are like this, you know. You get bouts of hunger every hour or two and you end up having junk full of carbs and fats. To maintain your daily health regime, the tick id to eat something that won’t sabotage the new pair of denims you bought last month. So, if you are hungry but want to have something healthy, here are my quick recipes for evening snacks.

1. Quick Rava Idli: Nothing beats the taste of fluffy and soft idlis served with coconut chutney.
Ingredients:
• 1 cup rava
• ¼ cup curd
• 1 tsp salt
• 1 cup water
• 1 tbsp oil
• ½ tsp mustard seeds
• ½ tsp cumin seeds
• 3-4 curry leaves
• 2 green chillies chopped
• 3-4 cashews chopped
• A pinch of heeng
• 1 ½ tsp eno

Method:
1. Take rava in a bowl. Add curd and mix well.
2. Now add water and salt to make a thick batter. Keep aside.
3. Add oil in a pan. Put mustard seeds and cumin seeds. Allow them flutter.
4. Now add heeng, chillies, curry leaves and cashews.
5. Put this tempering into the idli batter.
6. In the end add eno fruit salt. Mix it with light hands. Do not over mix after adding eno.
7. Steam the idlis in a steamer for 10-15 minutes.
8. Serve with chutney of your choice.

2. Oats and Poha Bhel: This crunchy munchy bhel has no aloo, sev or deep fried mixture and is a healthier version of bhel.
Ingredients:
• 1 cup rolled oats
• 1 cup beaten rice or poha
• ½ cup puffed rice or murmura
• ½ cup chopped tomatoes
• ½ cup chopped onions
• 2 tbsp chopped coriander.
• 2 chillies chopped
• 1 tbsp lemon juice
• Salt to taste
• 3-4 tbsp of green chutney
• 2-3 tbsp of imli chutney

Method:
1. Combine oats, poha and murmura in a non stick pan and dry roast till they turn crisp.
2. Allow them to cool completely and transfer in a deep bowl.
3. Add the remaining ingredients and mix well.
4. Serve the bhel immediately.

3. Sesame Popcorns: Something different than the authentic masala popcorns. A totally innovative taste to satisfy those monsoon cravings.
Ingredients:
• ¼ cup maize kernels
• 2 tbsp oil
• 1 tbsp sesame seeds
• ½ tsp jeera
• ½ tsp chilli powder
• ½ tsp salt

Method:
1. Add oil in a pressure cooker, add the maize kernels and sauté.
2. Cover with lid and cook for 3-4 minutes or till the corn gets popped.
3. When corn stops popping, switch off the flame.
4. Now add 1 tbsp oil in another pan and add jeera, sesame seeds and chilli powder.
5. Switch off the flame and add popcorns.
6. Serve immediately.
